Cultural Anthropology

In my study of folk religion and religious identity, I use cultural anthropology approaches that involve fieldwork. My first fieldwork took place when I was an undergraduate. Then during my MA education at Saint Petersburg University and the History of Religion Museum.

Anthropology of Religion is an interesting field, but cultural anthropological methods are still underestimated in the study of religion. We use this discipline for some specific themes, but we can do it more broadly. Cultural Anthropology can be useful to understand the History of Religion and the meaning of religious texts. I think our future research in Religious Studies should involve anthropological approaches more often.
